According to its website, Pizza Fenice was founded by Bronx native John Gristina, who has been passionate about pizza-making since he started working in his father’s pizzeria at just 12 years old.
With a commitment to high-quality ingredients and innovative flavors, the pizzeria has quickly built a devoted following, per its website.
"It’s the best Pizza Place In town!" said a Readers' Choice voter. "Thanks to Pizza Fenice, I went up three jean sizes and I love it!"
Readers' Choice voters had much to say about Pizza Fenice.
“Best gluten-free pizza bar none!” shared one voter, while another declared, “The best pizza in New York, so that means the best pizza in the world.”
"I'm a regular there for takeout on Friday nights," said a voter. "Love their specialty pizzas."
Voters love the variety, from specialty pies to Detroit-style pizza, with one exclaiming, “They have better Detroit pizza than Detroit!”
Others highlighted the exceptional flavors, saying, “Best pizza! Drooling thinking about it now!” and “Pizza Fenice is made with artistry and love.”

Owner John Gristina expressed his excitement about the win.
“Winning this has so much meaning for me because Pizza Fenice is my return to the pizza industry after a 13-year absence," he said. "Fenice is the Italian word for phoenix, the fire bird that rises from the ashes, and to win this after being gone for so long and only being open here for less than three years, it certainly feels like I’ve been reborn.

The 2024 Daily Voice Readers' Choice contest to name the Best of the Best in Westchester County began with reader nominations in October and ended with a voting period for finalists in 80+ categories in December.
